IELTS Courses in London

 

IELTS is an internationally-recognised level test of English. Candidates are scored for reading, writing, listening and speaking separately and receive a total score in bands 0 - 9. To apply to a UK university, non-native speakers are typically asked to prove language ability with an IELTS score of 6.5 or 7.0. Some universities and courses require a higher score.

IELTS exams are held every month in London. Avalon can help you book your exam at a nearby offical Test Centre. The exam costs around £105 and must be booked 3 weeks in advance.

Times of classes:

Pre-IELTS (a 50 minute class) is normally available at 09.30, 12.30 and 3.30.

IELTS Exam Preparation classes (2 x 50 minute classes) are available at 10.30am - 12.20pm , 1.30pm - 3.20pm and 4.30pm - 6.20pm.

Maximum: 8 weeks
Students use a variety of IELTS- foundation grammar exercises, reading texts, writing tasks and listening exercises. To prepare students for the IELTS preparation class.

An upper-intermediate multi-skills class for students wishing to take the IELTS exam. 2 x 50 minutes

Minimum: 1 week
Maximum: 14 weeks
Students use a CAE course book which includes grammar exercises, reading texts, writing tasks and listening exercises. There are mock tests and mock interviews to simulate exam conditions. To prepare students for the CAE Exam.

TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication)

An upper-intermediate multi-skills class for students wishing to take the TOEIC exam. 2 x 50 minutes
Students work through a TOEIC course book which includes grammar exercises, reading texts and listening exercises. Multiple choice questions are projected on to a screen so that student practise answering questions quickly. To prepare students for the TOEIC Exam. The teacher uses an overhead projector and CDs. Students do not need to buy a book.
When can I start?
Anytime. The exam can be taken nearby any Saturday.

Will I get a certificate?
Yes, the TOEIC certificate is internationally recognised, but is most popular in Asia. It is possible to receive the certificate within 3 days of taking the exam, therefore it is a popular exam for students who wish to renew their visa and take a public exam at short notice. It costs around £80 to take the exam and there is an official Test Centre close to the school which offers the exam every Saturday. The course does not include exam fees.
