1. Your Course
Avalon courses are 5 days a week, Monday to Friday. Your lessons must begin and end at the same time each day. If your teachers decide that your level is not high enough you will be moved to a class at a lower level. Before paying, students should confirm that the courses they intend to study are available. Although the school makes every effort to run the courses advertised, we reserve the right to change course times and postpone courses.
2. Changing Your Class
You can change class whenever you want if: a) there is a place available in the new class.
b) you have already studied up to the level of the new class.
3. Attendance
Students with a student visa are advised that they must attend 80% of their lessons by law. Students on long courses can take a holiday of two days per month of study. All holidays must be arranged in advance in order for credit to be given to the student. Students who do not attend regularly may be required to change class. Any student who has not attended a class for five days will be automatically removed from the register. They will have to register again at Reception and may not be able to go back to the same class if it is full.
4. Payments and Refunds
You must pay for your course before you attend. If you are paying by bank transfer your will also have to pay the bank charges and must tell the bank that you will be paying. If you are paying by credit card you will be charged 2.95% extra to cover credit card charges. After you have paid for your course a refund cannot be given. In extreme cases (death in the family for example) courses can be postponed indefinitely. No transfer of courses in whole or in part is possible. We do not allow the transfer of credit from one student to another.
5. Conduct
Students at the school all study together and it is important that everyone shows consideration to one another. Anyone whose behaviour causes inconvenience, offence or distress to students or staff will be cautioned. Anyone who is a persistent nuisance will be removed from the class.
Please: a.) Switch off mobile phones in the classroom. Do not answer calls.
b.) Be punctual for the lesson.
c.) Do not smoke in the classrooms, toilets or corridors.
d.) Do not speak your own language during the lesson.
e.) Try not to disturb other students when they are working or talking to the teacher.
6. Exam Courses
We aim to provide high quality tuition that gives the student a realistic chance of success in the exam. For this reason, we can only allow students to study on exam courses if they have an appropriate level of English.
7. Overseas Enrolments and Enrolment Letters
The school will provide a letter to say that you have enrolled for your course only when payment has been received in full. No discounts or special rates apply to students paying for courses before arriving in the country. In the case of a refund prior to a student entering the UK, an administration charge of at least £100.00 will apply in all cases.
8. Students must be 16 years or over to enrol at Avalon. |
