Immigration
Before you travel to the UK you will have to make sure that you have a student
visa if you require one. If you are not sure whether you need a visa please
check with your local British Embassy or click
here for information.
Some nationals may need entry clearance before travelling to the UK. You can check your country’s status at the above website.
At the airport the Immigration Officers will try to check that you are a
serious student and they may look carefully at all your documents. They
will want evidence that you have enough money to support yourself whilst
in the UK( such as a bank statement) and that you will not work.
You will also need to show your school letter and information about your accommodation in London.
Trial & Prepaid Students
You will need to arrange an interview with a Director or Qualified teacher by speaking to a Receptionist.
You will have an interview and then you will be placed in the right class
for your level of English. The interview will take approximately 20 minutes.
We will then place you in a class for 6 trial lessons. If you decide not
to enrol at Avalon you will pay nothing.
If you are happy after the trial lessons, reception will place you in that class. You will be asked for the registration fee, given a class book and an enrolment card so that the teacher knows that you are in that class. You will be given a student pack that has information about the school as well as additional information we think you may find useful.
Classes are between 9.30 and 8.20 every day. The lessons last 50 minutes.
After each lesson there is a 10-minute break. There is a café at Denmark
Street for coffee and snacks, and the Study Centre.
You should bring three passport-sized photos for a student card as well
as £30 for the registration fee.
You will receive a book for your first level. The
text books must be paid for when you change levels or join exam courses.
The student card
will entitle you to use the multimedia centre and free Internet access at
Denmark Street. You will also need to bring a pen and paper for your lessons
as the school cannot provide pen or paper.
