Abbreviating means making shorter by not using some letters, for example,

It is like what people do when they write a text message on their mobile
phone, for example;

incl = inclusive (includes all the bills in the rent)
kitchenette = a small kitchen area which is part of the living room or bedroom
landline = A British Telecom line, not a mobile.

nr tube = near tube station
n/s = non-smoker
lge = lrge = large
opp tube = opposite tube station
p/b flat = purpose-built flat (it’s not part of a converted house)
pref = prefer/preferably
p/shower = power shower
professional = you must have a good job
ref = reference (from boss or previous landlord)
refurb = refurbished (recently been decorated, maybe with new furniture)
req = required (wanted)
rm = room
s/c = self-contained = has its own kitchen and bathroom area
sep kitchen = separate kitchen
shwr = shower
tower block = very high building full of flats
tube/BR = underground/overground railway station
WC = toilet (loo)
w/m = washing machine
